I, too, was intrigued that the Moe campaign had a presence at the May Day
Parade. I think it was really good thing, especially given that many people
who did not support him at the convention (myself included) are still
wondering whether Moe/Sabo can really win back the State House. (I have my
concerns.) The problem for Moe is that he has to go both right and left at
the same time. Left for those who would support the Green Party and right
to grab the suburban, independent, moderate voters. Not an enviable task,
but he will have to harmonize all of this.

In any event, as a resident of 62B and a delegate to the SD 62 caucus in
less than two weeks, I would love to learn if others have heard about Jean's
and/or Wes' plans. There's not much time for us to get a candidate out
there for the senate seat and those of us who have to choose between these
two pretty solidly progressive folks would love to know what the choices
will be. Jean has been a solid representative for those of who are in the
HPDL area and Wes has a long record of progressive legislation as well.
(Defense of Marriage a noteworthy and troubling exception in my book.)

Anyone have any insights?

Subject: [Mpls] Minneapolis parade-goers eye pols

I was there, and it was quite a sight: Roger Moe marching alongside the
Minneapolitans who let their freak flags fly at MayDay....well, it was
harder to tell who was more freakish: the usual M-D masked marchers or a
guy who favors monogrammed shirts.

Anyway, AP writer Patrick Howe aptly captures the differing levels of,
shall we say, enthusiasm for the newly crowned DFL nominee versus the
Green's own Ken Pentel...it was sorta like a home game for Ken.
(Councilmember Dean Zimmermann had the quip of the afternoon: "Vote Moe
for the status quo.")

I also couldn't help wondering, watching the parade of pols: would Wes
Skoglund move up to SD 62 Senate to avoid a rematch with Holle Brian? I
know Wes won handily the first time, but I'm thinking that Jean Wagenius
gives the DFLers a better chance to fend off the Greens because she's
more to the left...then again, Jean represents less of what is now 62B
in her current 63A seat...

I saw Holle but I didn't see Wes or Jean's campaign...which seemed weird
considering the parade is close enough to SD 62...and I did see SD 60
candidate Scott Dibble's campaign represented. Maybe I missed Wes's and
Jean's campaign presence though, since I was corralling a 4 1/2-year-old
and a two-year-old...
