At the meeting that the Minnehaha dog park was proposed, there was never any discussion about the safety of the cliffs along the path. No one brought forth knowlege of any accidents on the cliffs involving dogs or people. The discussion about keeping the dogs on the path was about protecting the native prairie from the dogs, not about protecting the dogs from the cliffs. Also, M-ROMP had no official position on the issue of fencing this area. Some M-ROMP members wanted the area fenced, others did not. M-ROMP members are, of course, terribly saddened by this incident, and will work to make this area safe for both owners and their canine companions.
