We could really use a safe, quick, quiet

I've long thought that we need a bikes only street. Not a parkway for
leisure riders, but a street, say Fremont/Logan/you pick it. One that is
only open to non-motorized traffic. It would be used by serious bikers,
walkers, and joggers to get to and from downtown. This would really take
some people out of their cars.

1. It would have to be non-arterial road. Minimum traffic interuption. Must
be a strait shot to
Richfield or link up with a suitable bike way in southern terminus of
city.

2. By making it a quite street, there would be minimum business interuption.

3. Stop signs/lights on the cross streets would force the cars to let the
bikes pass,
except at existing main roads. Ex: Franklin, Lake, 36th,46th, 50th,
54th.

4. Homeowners along the road would see the value of their land/home go up
because of
the new greenway in front of their house. I am not joking here. If I
had access to an
alley and garage, this is a slam dunk from a real estate perspective.

5. We could have a "City Limits" Bike race. What Mpls office drone can bike
from
Timberwolves arena to the city boarder in minimum time.
