1. I'm a manager, not a moderator. The difference is that I don't pre-review posts, except when the list server stops a post for technical reasons and even then I intervene extremely rarely. 2. I have a life. I try to remain up on the various decorum violations, but frankly, the tone in general on this list has degraded recently and I sometimes frankly don't have the time or patience to note every violation on-list. I do try to send warnings off-list directly to the offending member. It would be a big help if members emailed me their decorum concerns off list (as the rules require). I usually respond well when people ask nicely. Members can help by emailing the offending member off-list about his or her conduct. This is a place for issues - let's stick to that and not rise to the inflammatory bait. This is a volunteer job for me, and lately it has seemed like a job. I guess I have to expel a few people again, but it would really be better if all you civic-minded and obey-the-rules members would mind your manners and can the inflammatory stuff on your own.
