Notwithstanding any law, it is my humble and unlawyered opinion that if you want, you can have a sign in your yard expressing whatever views you espouse (I guess as long as it is not obscene).
If you want to keep a Wellstone sign in your yard as a tribute to the late, great senator, that is your choice and right under the 1st amendment. If you want to take someone's sign and write "stinks" under their name as a protest of their views, that should be allowed to. The law regarding political signs really applies to campaigns. I suppose you would have to pay the Wellstone campaign (or any other) for the sign so that you can tell the sign police that it your own sign and not hasn't been removed due to lax campaign volunteers. So go ahead put signs in your yard and windows. Let us know what you think about the War in Iraq...what really is your opinion about the Highway 35 expansion...remind me to slow down on 50th Street...tell me who the Twins should sign in the off-season... after all it is a free country.
