That's not my understanding. In fact, I would like to thank Tom Johnson for directly answering the question here. He addressed the issue here.WM: Bear bating is a nasty sport. Johnson is not going to spend any time on this list. He doesn't have it to spend.Ken avidor wrote:WM: I called Tom Johnson at 4:58 p.m. today. He stated that he never said anything even remotely like what you have here, Mr. Avidor. He did say, however, that "the elipse about is central to the design and we intend to build it."I would be happy to argue whether roundabouts or ellipse abouts are a needed, useful or desirable addition to my neighborhood but Tom Johnson, the Project Manager of the 35W Access Project has already stated his doubts about whether the ellipse-about is still in the plans.
Tom Johnson himself needs to get directly on this list and clear up this point directly.

Avidor's post said:WM: The entire document passed by the Access Committee is available at www.phillipspartnership.org In that document you will find the elipse about. What Avidor probably heard was that there has been no decision about whether or not there needs to be a pedestrian crossing light at 38th and the elipse.Otherwise Ken Avidor's account is pretty compelling -- and if Avidor's account is correct, Johnson was lying to me about the round abouts when I had breakfast with him about a month ago.
AVIDOR: I distinctly heard Tom Johnson express his doubts about the "ellipse-about" at Horn Terrace, Tuesday, November 19th and I have at least one witness who will back me up. If Tom Johnson still considers the "ellipse-about" to be the centerpiece of the Project, with or without fountains...I invite him to join this forum and set the record straight himself. Perhaps he can also let us, the Mayor and the City Council know how much $ the City will need to kick in on the "mitigation".
EY:
It seems like Johnson's post clarifies this on the record which is much more valuable than getting individual assurances from Johnson by phone.
The stenographer at the three November meetings has tallied and turned in the recorded comments of people who attended. The questionaires people filled out have been tallied. Those attending voted 75% to build, 25% not to build.
No build wasn't an option on the questionaires -- the options were 6a and 6b.
It's interesting to me that Avidor's account is "compelling" when Avidor has shown a penchant for ignoring information he has access to and refused to meet with Johnson. Yet Johnson is accused of possibly "lying."What I said was if Avidor's account is correct, then Johnson did lie to me when I met with him -- because I remember talking to him specifically about the roundabouts on 38th St. I'm glad that Tom Johnson chose to ignore Wizard Marks' advice to avoid answering questions directly on this forum, and instead chose this time to quickly clarify that the roundabouts are still in the plan.
