Roundabouts are proven traffic control devices. However, Ken Avidor is absolutely correct to question the feasibility of using roundabouts in essentially a residential area. All of the hundreds of roundabouts I've seen over the past 15 years in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Spain, Italy, and Belgium have been used on high traffic non-residential streets; they present significant problems for pedestrians.
