Jim McGuire says:
"It's wrong for the DFL party to give preferential treatment to union shops
in light of the above?"

MM: I think is certainly not wrong for the DFL to have the practice of
using union printers. It is a good thing for campaigns to make a positive
statement about labor by promoting union printing. What is wrong is that a
candidate who chooses for solid reasons (that fit within the platform of the
DFL) to use a minority-owned local print shop instead of a union shop would
be slandered by DFL members because of it. The devisive nature of the
debate over this issue has taken on monumental proportions. It has been the
most talked about issue of the campaign on this list. The arguments that
have been put forth against Don Samuel's campaign are not about forwarding
the issues of the labor movement. They are about a candidate not following
a rule set up by the DFL insiders and being punished for it. That is wrong
and it does not benefit the DFL party or the citizens.
