Anyone who wants to keep TAX EXEMPT organizations honest should know about this website: www.guidestar.com. [In the Search box, type in Project 504, for example]
You can view and print your favorite non-profit's tax returns, obtain federal identification numbers, identify board members, and see how much they pay themselves. For the year 2000, Project 504 had income (individual contributions) of $205,000 and expenses of $97,254. $78,759 was spent for "compensation, pension plan, payroll taxes" for two officers: Greg Luce and Joan Resner. $2,283 was spent for "specific assistance to individuals." This is just another non-profit that uses the "50 for me, 1 for you" disbursement plan. ALWAYS REMEMBER the first words uttered by tyrants - "I'm here to help you." Whenever I hear those words, I run as fast as I can in the opposite direction! Vicky Heller Cedar-Riverside and North Oaks TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Send all posts in plain-text format. 2.
