Our business decision to move downtown is based on our belief that Minneapolis is a great city to invest in. Our building at Lyndale has appreciated in value since we purchased it in 1999 and we have every reason to believe that this new building will also be a good investment for us. So we're growing our business and investing in the city.
Our staff is excited to be moving downtown. Parking will be an issue, but folks are already planning carpools and bike routes to work.
The award-winning news coverage the Journal has provided since 1990 won't change. That coverage is the foundation of our business, and without it, we lose readers and advertisers. So our plans are to continue to do what we do best, just in from a different Minneapolis neighborhood -- Loring Park.

Steve Brandt writes:
Does anyone else out there in southwest Minneapolis lament the pending
departure of the Southwest Journal for offices downtown? I know the
business reasons and I know it still will arrive on my porch every other
week. Yet I feel as if an important community institution is moving out
of the community.
Just so everyone knows, we're moving to 1115 Hennepin Ave., probably in June.
Our publisher, Janis Hall, will comment on the business reasons if she wishes. As for the editorial implications...
