Vicky adds..... Don't forget the MILLIONS of these "GIFTS WITH A FEW UN-ENFORCED STRINGS ATTACHED" that Minneapolis has given the local real estate developers. The last time I looked at the MCDA financial data - there were $178 million of these GIFTS on the books!!!! The notorious West Bank Community Development Corporation has a $1.4 million "forgivable" loan/GIFT right now - and because it's a tax-exempt entity - it gets to keep the windfall and distribute the cash to its insiders. Nifty. Here is the humor and irony in all of this: Minneapolis taxpayers are paying HUGE INTEREST PAYMENTS every year (approximately $137 million now) to the very same people they love to bash -- the rich guys and corporations -- you know, the ones that buy the municipal bonds. The best part is, the rich guys don't even have to pay taxes on their income. Vicky Heller Cedar-Riverside and North Oaks TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait. 2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject (Mpls-specific, of course.) ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
