"Chase Target out of town"? And then, what, Pillsbury?
Minneapolis and Target are joined at the hip. You really can't say one without the other. Nobody will chase Target out of town. Bad as the closure of a store might be for the northside, I think a discussion of future directions can be more productive by being more rational, less vindictive. The store is gone, so think of the future. South Minneapolis has lost lots of business, but this end of town is still economically viable. The northside can and will be, too. Compare where it is today vs. the aftermath of the riots of the 60's. A LOT of development occurred in the wake of those devastating events. I don't think the closing of one store begins to measure up to that sort of devastation. By the way, speaking of Minneapolis coping with bad times, how many read this story: "A recent report from the Employment Policy Foundation says the Minneapolis /St. Paul area is the best place in the nation for college graduates seeking jobs." http://www.startribune.com/stories/535/3917616.html (Interesting that the site didn't ask me to register. Maybe they've dropped the idea). Jim Mork Cooper Neighborhood Longfellow Community Minneapolis, The Liveable City I Call Home TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait. 2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject (Mpls-specific, of course.) ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
