It's difficult to believe that Minneapolis is losing population. If there truly is a loss in population, decreasing household size might be a factor. The 2000 Census data seems to indicate that in Minneapolis household size is on the decline. Smaller families, empty nesters, and in-migration of the young contribute to smaller households.
