RT has always been good at PR style over substance - and this editorial is an example of that. He's kind of like SOS Mary Kiffmeyer with relentless self-promotion in the media.
Personally, I think if RT had used the bully pulpit to try to sell the planetarium - rather than the rediculous stadium proposal, the city would be better off. The planetarium is a metro-wide resource - and kids from all over the metro region could have field trips to visit it. When I went to school in Madison - we did field trips both to Milwaukee and Chicago. (Chicago for the Museum of Science and Industry, Milwaukee for the Conservatory). I still remember those field trips well.
Speaker Sviggum and Majority Leader Johnson were on Tom Hauser's show this weekend. It sounds like Senator Higgins is chairing the committee looking at stadium tax issues. So people should write Linda Higgins to let her know how you feel about the legislature prioritizing stadium deals over the Planetarium, Biotech development - or other bonding bill items or possibilities.
I'd also suggest that people call Allina to tell them how you feel about them blackmailing the city. Ofcourse it says lots for the Mayor's leadership - that he falls for that blackmail.
