DO YOU RIDE THE BUS POLL?

Hello Minneapolis Folks,

MERP (conversion of our coal plants to natural gas)
was a wonderful victory for the future of our city and
public health. Many people deserve credit for helping
to make that happen, which will help to improve our
air quality in the city of Minneapolis and have an
impact on global warming-climate change. Approximately
a third of our CO2 emissions come from coal plants, a
third from residential and industrial buildings, and a
third from automobiles.

The energy behind that success came from the Clean
Energy Now, and EJam folks, grassroots campaigns that
influenced Xcel Energy and public officials. Of coarse
many public officials did tremendous work as well.

I find this same excitement from many people about
using alternative modes of transportation. Many
companies even pay a significant portion transit cost
for their employees, including American Express, Best
Buy, and Minnesota Public Radio. Its cheaper then
parking fees and improves the environment!

I ride the bus every day to work in the winter and at
times during the spring, summer and fall. During the
warmer months my bike and motorcylce are also used
frequently. I have my group of bus friends from
Minneapolis that commute to St. Paul. My bus friends
are passionate about riding the bus and using other
forms of transportation like biking and walking
because they realize it is a step in helping to
improve the world.

My bus is packed every morning and afternoon, which is
visual testimony to the support for mass transit has
in our city. Even local television and radio
journalist Eric Eskola can be seen commuting from
Minneapolis to the Capital in St. Paul. I have had the
opportunity to thank him for showing leadership and
improving our environment by riding the bus. I have
heard through the grapevine that Star Tribune reporter
Steve Brandt bikes and rides the bus. If that is true.
Thank you Steve!

How many other journalist ride the bus or use other
forms of transit?

How many elected officials and city employees ride the
bus in the city of Minneapolis?

It is faster then driving from many place in the city.
My girl friend lives in South West Minneapolis and the
express bus from her house takes about 20 minutes to
get downtown. I can make it to downtown St. Paul from
her house in 40 minutes. That's right, no parking, no
hassles, no cleaning off the car, just plenty of time
to read.

So I have decide to take a poll of Minneapolis Issue
list user. If you ride the bus, please respond to this
email by posting:

1) I RIDE THE BUS!

2) HOW OFTEN: (BLANK MANY DAYS A WEEK, A MONTH, OR
RARELY)
