List members, please correct me if I'm wrong about this. But whenever a cop shoots and kills a civilian isn't s/he automatically put on paid leave, even when the casualty was posing an imminent danger to others?
My understanding of putting a cop on paid leave, therefore, doesn't mean that the cop is being accused of anything wrong. It's just standard procedure to make investigations go smoother. I was rather surprised by Doug Grow's column. Well, not really. Given that he's taken it upon himself in the past to identify the good Negroes and bad Negroes of Minneapolis, it's not surprising to see him take on the role of judge, jury, prosecutor and exonerator. I agree with Michael that he's looking like a front man for the Minneapolis Police Federation.----------------------Peter Schmitz CARAG REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
