Before the strike began I heard more than one bus driver talk about how Pawlenty and Bell we're planning to save millions of dollars from the busses sitting idle.
This tells me that there was no lock out since the transit union was stupid enough to consciously comply with the Governor's Met Council's wishes. Again, the demands of the transit workers are just, fair and more than reasonable. But their tactics, given the current political climate and all the leverage they gave their bosses, are very counterproductive. Workers go on strike to bring their bosses to their knees. But instead of forcing Pawlenty and Bell to negotiate, they've caused transit-dependant people to lose their jobs. Let's hope that the union gets a brain, because Pawlenty and Bell will never have a heart.---------------Peter Schmitz Downtown Saint Paul ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
