There was no point. I was merely seeking information. When I found the information I was looking for, I passed it on to the list members. I suspect that some list members may be interested in who the major parties endorse, and who gets those endorsements. Like it or not, at least 2 of the major political parties will endorse and support school board candidates this year. And those endorsements can influence the outcome of the election. The Republican party endorsed only one candidate for school board in 2002, and so far as I know, the Republican party has endorsed only one candidate for school board in 2004. Why only one? Remember Renee Lavoi, one of the Republican endorsed candidates in 2001? Lavoi turned out to be an extreme right wing stealth candidate. It's doubtful that a full slate of Republican candidates could get through the nonpartisan primary, and one reasonably inoffensive candidate with the republican endorsement is likely to get through the primary and has at least a slim chance of placing 3rd in the general election, which is all that it takes to get on the board. I have been critical of the DFL party and the school board. And I believe that a struggle for reforms organized independently of the Democratic and Republican parties, and with a critical mass of public support, can force the board to adopt and implement policies that can close the gap. However I don't agree with the position that Mark Snyder attributes to me, and I doubt that I have ever articulated it. -Doug Mann, King Field Minneapolis School Board candidate http://educationright.tripod.com REMINDERS: 1.
