How can we NOT do something? Innocent individuals often get caught in the crossfire. And, as a teacher in North Minneapolis, I dread the headlines of violence because I fear that one of the students will be a victim. By this, I don't just mean killed either. A death, particularly one brought about by violence, has an incredible and long-lasting impact on individuals and community members. To allow the bangers to just kill each other off is disrespectful to the environment where the violence occurs and all those within and/or influenced by that environment.

Lastly, perhaps I am naive, but complacency, to me, is the same as complicity and I will continue to believe that every human being has the right to be safe and hopeful for the future.

List Members-Any suggestions what to do about this situation?
I would love to read your answers.
My first cynical response is:
 Why do anything about it?

As the police captain said, "These are targeted specific murders, They're not random drive-by acts."

So the gangs are killing each other off? Good, let them. Maybe when they've killed off a good share of each other's membership, the police can move in and arrest the remainder.
