Steve Cross argues that the asset value of KBEM is diminished by its low-power status. While that's true, I think he underestimates the signal strength when he says that it can't be caught much beyond the city limits. That's not been my experience. I typically catch the Saturday morning bluegrass show all the way to Forest Lake. The signal seems to cover the metro area pretty well; otherwise MNDOT wouldn't have used it for traffic info. I wonder if Steve is mixing KBEM up with KFAI, which IS hard to receive much outside the central cities.
