The politicos know they can't build our way out of congestion. They don't
care. The developers and oil/car/highway/etc lobbies are making big bucks
and could care less if they create hell on earth. With lots of money they
can one way or another persuade councils and legislatures to do anything
they want.

They know; they don't care.

The problem now is us - why do we put up with it/them?
