A discussion of the general implications of eminent domain, government
subsidized private development, TIF districts, and so on, is occurring on The
List
at this time. Extensive postings on the rightness and wrongness of government
power to take property from private hands is bantered around.

Simultaneous to this abstract discussion on The List; I have posted the very
specific and horrifying details of our local Lowry Corridor Road Project's
Larry Blakstad meddling with a lady's economic survival. The Lady is Jamie
LaVanier and her apartment building is at 3123 6th street. Her economic
survival
being predicated on the income her 8 tenants gave her to pay her mortgage and
other property expenses. The rent they paid her each month before the County's
Larry Blakstad induced all her good tenants to leave her property by tendering
them 50 to 80 thousand dollars. He has implemented the rules and regs of
eminent domain to relocate the tenants and empty an 8 unit apartment building
that
he has thus far failed to purchase; nor even "quick-take' through other
eminent Domain rules and regs. It is now empty, boarded and raped by
trespassers and
thieves.

>From my conversations with Jamie, she has made it clear to me that there are
greater and lessor trespassers and thieves in this matter. Those individuals
who broke into her empty and boarded building to kick in doors and steal the
copper plumbing, etc., were petty thieves and petty trespassers. The
County/City
under Larry Blakstad's control and direction, were grand thieves as they
stole her tenants, her buildings viability and safety, her ability to pay her
bills, her ability to gain restful sleep at night, and her ability to legally
dispute the price for which she would allow her building to be purchased. The
County/City under Larry Blakstad's control and direction, were the grand
trespassers by entering her building's leases and removing her tenants from her
with
offers of substantial government money; before they own Jamie's building.

My point to The List about the Eminent Domain Thread here; let us address the
specific action being taken, currently as I write this, in an eminent domain
procedure on the streets of Mpls. Let us discuss the heavy handed tactics used
against an honest and sincere stakeholder, Jamie LaVanier, in a tough Mpls.
Neighborhood, Jordan. Let us discuss a female provider of, for profit,
affordable housing who was always standing up against the gangs and criminals
who
swarmed her block while she constantly spruced up her building and catered to
her
good, hand picked, tenants. Can we have a conversation about a women, Jamie
LeVanier, who after all her good work on the block, is ultimately being
weakened
and destroyed by the mean spirited implementation of Eminent Domain rules and
regs relating to tenants by the Heartless and Bullying County/City under the
cat's paw of Larry Blakstad?

Or, shall we just talk generalities and broad public policy, here? Shall we
offer general banter while bad public policy destroys an innocent individual
through eminent domain near Lowry and Lyndale north?

We must research and write about this travesty on The List and we must call
Larry Blackstad, or Chuck Ballantine (his boss), at Hennepin County 348-9260
and simply ask: IS THIS FAIR?
