I have many thoughts on the article cited. However, I will bite, er uh, start with the financial one since MSP is facing (another round) of such deep cuts.
Why is Belton's 9 month contract for $122,625? I have an honest question that I would like to hear opinions on. Does that seem to be excessive? I know this will likely lead to a discussion on what is fair and how do you pick a number, but I personally think this is excessive. For the record, I also think the Super's pay is excessive. While it might be competitive with "other districts of similar size", I think it is excessive. In a district facing another $20MM+ in cuts, where we are laying off teachers (or at least playing the annual shuffle game) and where parents are fund raising for what I call (in many cases) basics, every thousand dollars counts. Looking for opinions.
