This attack by Blackshaw might make some folks mad except it is such a joke.
Blackshaw might try to cover some things with his attack but to most people
it is reminder of the KING of floppers, namely RT Rybak's administration.
To get votes RT promises full NRP funding then flops and attempts to kill
NRP, then flips and announces at the City Convention that he is responsible
for "saving NRP", then flops by attempting to cut it in the budget.
RT cuts Police and Firefighters, and says we can cut more police because we
do not have a crime problem, then flops and says it is his highest
priority.
But the flop of all was the campaign promise to oppose any stadium bill,
then within 5 days of taking office he is the self appointed champion of a
stadium and leading delegations to the Capitol. What the heck happened? Did
RT have a "Charismatic" come to stadium experience? From disbelieving
opponent to devout stadium evangelist in just one week?
By the way I remember when RT was opposed to the total smoking ban and
thought it deserved more study. Of course that was before he flipped
because the political wind blew that way. Or was that "Flopped". With RT it
takes a score card to determine if it is "Flip" or "Flop" this time.
Especially if the wind changes.
So perhaps Blackshaw is playing Knute and asking us to "take one for the
flipper". Well like that other great "Flipper" RT has a great personality
and smile, but hey it is time we had a little substance in the show and a
little less fluffy "flipper" show. Minneapolis has needed a Mayor for three
years and will probably need one for the next four. If Blackshaw rubs that
sweet personality off by attack politics, RT will have a problem. One
millimeter of polish and substance over a thick particle board staff will be
reveled.
No, win one for the "Flipper" just is not going to win for RT. Besides, why
is RT wasting his time and our City on being Mayor when his true talent is
being a news personality? Two of our local TV stations need a good
anchorman now. RT should seize this opportunity and do what he is really
good at, and leave running the City to someone who can actually do the job,
and BE a Mayor. Both the City and the viewing public would be better off.
Or perhaps Weatherman is better for RT. RT's staff is always changing the
forecast and trying to gage what direction the political wind is blowing
today.
