I've been homeschooling in Minneapolis since 2001. My children are now 11, 18, & 22.

We don't have to report our test scores, but my 18 year old scored perfect scores on her last standardized tests, her SATs, and the GED she needed to take so Reed College could give her a Federal Pell Grant. My 11 year old scored in the top .1% on several of the tests he took last year.

The MPLS District office is not an impediment to our learning activities. Neither do they provide much support.

We are members of MHA, mentioned by Madeline, and have had really good experiences with them.

I attended MPLS Public Schools for 13 years and was a parent of MPLS Public School children for 12 years. I live across the street from a MPLS Public School.

Minneapolis is a great place to learn symbolic language, earth science, math, arts, physical activity, politics, recreation, and culture.

Found this Minnesota Homeschoolers Alliance ...

Is there any information re

what % of Minneapolis school age children are home schooled?

any test scores or stats comparing the academic performance of home schooled
versus traditional schooled children in Minneapolis?

Does the Minneapolis public...or private schools do anything to support
or not support home schooling?

Anything unique or special about the home schooling movement in Minneapolis?
