My reply:
If income taxes are any disincentive to work (and I don't think so) property taxes are a bigger disincentive to save. Example: Two people earn the same amount over their lifetimes. One chooses to travel, goes to the casino, drives a fancy car, wears expensive clothing. The other buys a home, maintains it, fixes it up, improving it and the neighborhood as well. Why should this second individual be further taxed? The place to tax fairly is at the source, when the money comes in. Income tax makes best sense.
