Hmm...these horrible timings were with M$ drivers (possible s/w
emulated OpenGL). With vedor drivers me have:

=======================
GLView 4.0 shows:
   - version v1.1..1.5
   - rendering test : 150..270fps
=======================

and

=======================
C:\12>BenchSDL.exe
1/ Test : sprites
SDL  displayed 34 frames
SFML displayed 77 frames
--> SFML is 2.3x as fast as SDL

2/ Test : alpha-blended sprites
SDL  displayed 18 frames
SFML displayed 67 frames
--> SFML is 3.7x as fast as SDL

3/ Test : rotating sprites
SDL  displayed 8 frames
SFML displayed 76 frames
--> SFML is 9.5x as fast as SDL

4/ Test : static text
SDL  displayed 597 frames
SFML displayed 2308 frames
--> SFML is 3.9x as fast as SDL

5/ Test : dynamic text
SDL  displayed 78 frames
SFML displayed 1870 frames
--> SFML is 24.0x as fast as SDL
