I've been pretty happy with Scupdates for the past few years we've been using
them. They are a little behind the latest patches sometimes, that has gotten
better lately though. The thing I like is their product is just a .CAB file
you import, there's no additional software you install, and everything is in
the standard SCUP interface. Do these other products use their own consoles or
is everything contained in SCUP?

The 2 main companies that have acceptable products I think are Secunia and
Solarwinds.

Kent did a session at MMS that covered SCUP, Secunia and Solarwinds.. so I
would highly recommend viewing that session so you can see the different
solutions for yourself.

I think he has a webcast next Monday as well that is similar to the MMS session
he did.

We are looking to extend our SCUP environment and we are looking at third party
tools that integrate like Shavlik. Can anyone make any other recommendations
for easing the burden of applying third party updates?

Thanks,
Todd
