Network discovery can be messy, for lack of better term. It will pick up devices that talk IP (eg. printers, switches, etc.), that you may not want to appear in your ConfigMgr database; it can also create a lot of network traffic. The heartbeat discovery is vital, and is different from all other types of discoveries. Heartbeat Discovery:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633103.aspx Network Discovery: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693986.aspx It sounds like your best bet would be to remove the Active Directory organizational units that contain systems you dont want discovered by ConfigMgr. You could also write automation scripts using PowerShell to help clean out Active Directory and DNS, which might help keep things tidy in ConfigMgr as well. Should I disable the AD discoveries and just use the heartbeat and network discoveries in this case? I want to pursue any computers that did not install the client, but dont want to keep looking at computer names that shouldnt be there.
