I then think that, when also keeping in mind what you wrote below, you
shouldn't call it an MSX. An eventual new MSX should be made of a Z380,
OPL4, a v9990 in combination w/v9958, some memory (about 4MB), etc...
Especially the Z380 is important, and the OPL4 and v9990 are also important
new hardware, with which you can do lots of things, although not 3D (which I
don't think is a disadvantage).
Also, it would be nice if DMA was introduced, because a DAC working with DMA
would be really useful.
And a CD-drive would also be nice, although...
Anyway, I think these things are more like what everyone else wants.

You only say BeOS because you don't want to go Microsoft. But, I agree BeOS
is a nice OS... Especially the 404 error message...

I don't know... How could such a system boot in Visual Basic to 'inspire
gameplayers for programming'...

DirectX was only designed for the support of different kinds of hardware. On
this new MSX, the hardware would be the same, so something like DirectX
should exist, but can be burned into the (Flash)ROM.
And installation... sometimes I wonder why it's done... For example Age of
Empires... requires 90MB of HD-space, it puts the ENTIRE game on HD, but it
still needs the CD as a copy-protection key. But now the clue: the game also
runs from CD!!! The only problem when doing that is that you can't save,
because it tries to save on the CD...
Anyway, installation is most of the time because of the speed. I can install
Wing Commander "minimal", "standard" and "full". When installing "minimal",
the game becomes quite unplayable, because you'll have to wait for the
CD-drive to spin up very often, even when in the middle of action.
But this new OS would probably be Japanese. So for an English translation
you will probably need FlashROM or memory. So I hope it won't be ROM.
