Sorry I do not agree with that. First, IDE isn't bad at all. I have had as
much problems with IDE as I have had with my SCSI-interfaces. I had an
MK-interface, and successively an BERT interface so I know what I'm talking
about. And all those problems were related to the fact that the drives
itself were very old. To everbody who wants to buy a cheap, small drive:
don't. You might only need 100 MB or so, but those drives are so old they
WILL give problems, believe me I have experience with that. About 500MB
drives are the minimum I think...

Second, IDE is MUCH cheaper. Compare the prices in every advertisement you
see, and notice the difference. I haven't got the budget for that... Also,
the interface is only 90 guilders, while the BERT SCSI-interface cost me 160
guilders, and that one even hasn't got a FlashBIOS, so I will always be
stuck with the older version. In addition, it's very slow (50 kb/s compared
to 230kb/s with the Sunrise IDE interface).

And yes, I know there also is the Novaxis Interface, which is also fast,
however only on "adapted" 7MHz circuits, and it is also very hard to find.
And the MegaSCSI is also very hard to get and also very expensive.

Third, most PC computers have IDE drives, so IDE drives are a lot easier to
find.

Fourth, there is being worked on the IDE interface very actively. BIOS
updates appear from time to time, and if you want something, you can ask for
it and Jon de Schrijder might decide to do it. And if he doesn't want
(hasn't got the time for it), then he will surely give you any information
you want.

Fifth, to my experience, IDE drives are also easier to configure. I have
always had difficulties with SCSI-drives, things like IDs and terminators,
and most of the time it's not indicated very well... (at least it wasn't at
my drives, and an article I read about it also said there were alot of
differences between them).

And yes, I know the advantages of SCSI-drives, that is more devices, better
architecture, longer cables, etc. But I think the IDE interface has more
advantages.

Well, that was my speech.

Hail Sunrise (well that's a bit exaggerated don't you think?).
