Well, don't know if you know Parn's Music Station,
but it doesn't feature "dance music and similar". ;)

Yes, I do. Cakewalk 9 is great! But, of course, it's
a professional program and can't be really compared
with trackers and such, in that professional con-
text. This is clearly not oriented to 'normal' users
like me, for example. It doesn't offer any 'quick and
easy' way of inputting notes without external MIDI
support. Software and hardware may get pretty expen-
sive, while with trackers you usually don't need
anything besides your computer.

I must disagree. It's interface is great, and
helps A LOT the tracking task, which is a great
time-consuming task while composing modules. I
guess interface should be one of the utmost
worries about designing this kind of software.

I agree with this one! :)

I'd like to use IT if I could get used to its
interface.

I must disagree. It's one of the best available
programs FOR MSX. Maybe it isn't as feature-fledged
as you'd like, but it works. I don't know about
MoonBlaster's limitations, though -- maybe they
really cripple the format enough to prevent some
kinds of music.

I'd like to use MuSICA. But never got
the chance... :) I'm a big fan of MML.

Thinking back, there's a lot of software
developers reading this mail and maybe they
could get motivated to develop (or make avai-
lable ^^) some new, versatile and powerful
music tool for us. `:)

Since I haven't tried all MSX music editors yet,
for now I won't comment this. But I'm sure if
I had to design my perfect music composition tool
for MSX it would be a very different thing from
everything I've seen so far. :) Maybe I'd com-
bine chip support with MML support (even direct
writes to sound chips) with a lot of keyboard
shortcuts.

That "sounds" good. ^^

I got what you mean. But this isn't a tracker
limitation, it's a MoonBlaster limitation.
FT2, for example, allows irregular groups
and can record live phrases.

No tracker can, but most trackers (not
MoonBlaster, though) can provide excellent
timing resolution for home users.

This IS certainly possible with trackers,
I've seen dozens of music with that. It
only depends on the tracker's talent (wish
I could do that myself). :)

I never used MoonBlaster, but this means
the program is crippled. Every tracker, even
the most earlier ones, provide you some kind
of support for different measures.

Seems like SME3 would be perfect for use,
hardcore musicians. `:)))
