Back in 95-96 we won a pile of games 1-0 in the run-in with Eric
scoring the only goal most of the time.

Let's get some perspective. Since we lost to City, we've had a
phenomenal run, with the losses at Boro and Blackburn as blemishes.
Home form has been excellent. However, somewhere along the way, there
will be hiccoughs. We're not going to win every game. This was a
small blip. It may also serve as another tonic to pick us up and re-
focus. There was a bit too much talk of quadruples (not from the club
but from the media) starting to appear. There is a long way to go
still and don't forget we have the Worthington Cup and the FA Cup
still to come, not to mention the CL re-starting. Particularly the
latter may cause Arsenal to divert their energies a bit because they
have not done well in Europe and if Wenger wants to cement his
reputation (and I am sure that he does) he knows that they need to
win that competition. Luckily Arsenal have not pulled away any
further today despite taking the lead and then playing 10 men for the
last half hour. Yes, it would have been great to win today, but I for
one started to worry when I heard Mark Lawrenson predicting we'd
thrash City.

So - let's be optimistic. It could have been worse, we could have
lost and Arsenal could have won and they didn't and the loss of two
points will cause some reflection and serve as a motivation for the
remainder of the season. I don't think the gap with Arsenal is going
to disappear quickly, I think it will be a slow erosion point by
point. Now's the time for us to go on another long run.
