NewID(): Lets see about NewID() function which returns an unique
identifier. The syntax is
NewID(). Lets see how we can used in the tables, Example: Am trying to create
a table named Venkat Create table Venkat(id uniqueidentifier default
NewID(),name varchar(20))
insert into venkat(name) values('arun')
Now, i have got a table with two columns and 1 row inserted.
select * from venkat
The above query will return the row with values like, id
name
1. 4977E063-D8BC-4779-B344-9C5D7607FE78 arun Please make a note the unique
identifier value has 8digit-4digit-4digit-4digit-12digit format. It will change
accordingly with the versions of SQL Server. Regards,
Venkatesan Prabu. J
