Hi,

starting with 9.10 Ubuntu no longer seems to be supporting HAL.

If I remember correctly at least some versions of pcscd did use HAL for device
enumeration and also provided the IFD driver with a HAL-representation of the
device (e.g. "usb:1234/5678:libhal:/SOMETHING").

So I would like to ask about the current state of HAL support in pcsclite:

Does pcsclite support HAL? Are IFD drivers supposed to support HAL as well
(i.e. do they have to expect "*:libhal:*" device names or would it be enough
for the driver to reject "*:libhal:*" names and just support "*:libusb:*"
names)?

Or are there plans to switch to DeviceKit?

I'm asking because I'm currently in the process of adapting the Reiner SCT
cyberJack driver to OpenSuSE 11.2 and Ubuntu 9.10...

Regards
Martin
