Hello, 2009/11/15 Martin Preuss <[email protected]>: > well, libhal is still provided with Ubuntu 9.10 but the hal daemon isn't > running.
I installed Ubuntu 9.10 in a virtual machine and had no problem using pcsc-lite. I don't remember having to start the hal daemon manually. > I encountered this fact while trying to enumerate devices on Ubuntu > 9.10 using HAL; I got a message saying something about HAL daemon not running > so I googled a bit and found out that Ubuntu is deprecating HAL for DeviceKit > (or "DevKit" in short) + udev. I will have to look at DeviceKit and add support for that in pcsc-lite. It looks like it is the new (GNU/Linux) technology for device hotplug. > On SuSE 11.2 HAL is still supported, so I thought I should ask here how to > proceed with out IFD driver... > > For now we use Libusb-1.x to enumerate devices on Ubuntu 9.10 and HAL on non- > Debian-Systems. The best you can do for your driver is to support as much enumeration schemes as possible. My CCID driver does that and support libusb, libhal and none. If a new scheme is needed for DeviceKit I will document it in [1].
