Me too. I was thinking of using zoneminder and have been experimenting 
with it. I haven't tried it yet but there is a mythtv plugin for 
zonemimnder. It's talked about here:

That's not a bad idea - I hadn't thought about watching security camera 
video on a mvpmc box.  The MythZoneMinder wiki page says there are 
screens to view live camera shots.  I don't know what would be available 
using a mythtv / mvpmc box though.

There may be a quick solution.  The mvpmc box has vnc build into it. 
But there is no feed back (key presses returned to the vnc server) last 
I heard.  Just the ability to be a vnc client and see the screen of the 
server.  I haven't tried it for some time.  However, if you were a linux 
box you could start a vnc server on a virtual screen (i.e. leaves your 
main console alone for you to use) and run something like zoneminder on 
it.  Then server that up vnc style to the mvpmc box.
