Actually you might be able to find a toolchain pre-compiled for the diskstation. I know for my NSLU2 native compiling is available and this avoids setting up a cross compiler environment. > I didnt really want to turn dhcp of on the router as its worked fine for me. > I dont really understand the settings i have to make in the dhcpd.conf on my > nas drive, if i could just get this working, i would be happy to turn the > dhcp off on my router. For the dhcp.conf set it up like the how to says http://www.mvpmc.org/mvpmc-HOWTO-singlehtml.html I would expect the simplest change is to use your router's ip after these two setting option domain-name-servers option routers then make sure all the other sub-net information matches the sub-net info on your router. > What i dont understand is if i turn off dhcp on the > router would anythink that is connected to the router then try and get there > ip numbers from the dhcp server on the nas and would the dhcp server give > the nas itself a ip number. I'm assuming you have set up your NAS to have a static IP which removes the requirement for a dhcp server. Running mvpmc or not this is a logical thing to do for a NAS.
