Hi Greg,

This has been discussed and it is possible but no developer is
interested enough so far to actually write the code.  For me, since
you can fake all videos, including mpeg's through the vlc interface by
renaming them to .avi it's not a high priority.

Scaling on the mvp is in hardware so it isn't a resource issue and it
works well when it can scale but  it has limits eg. it can't do
NTSC/PAL transcoding.  Also there are ratios that are stretched but
that aren't scaled to full screen, which I think most people prefer.
I think the mvp hardware wants to keep the aspect correct and since  I
prefer a correct aspect ratio to full screen this works well for me.
