Indeed, and I certainly didn't intend to imply otherwise. I just
wanted to make sure that a casual reader didn't get the impression
that the "new page per wiki article" would be the most desirable
scenario in all cases. I would concur that for Wikibooks (and almost
certainly for other sites too) the operation you describe is
desirable.

P.S. Just thinking out loud here... how about having some kind of
options section in the collection page. The format could be something
like this:

==Rendering Options==
* NewPagePerArticle=yes
* CreditedEditor=A.N Editor and N. E. Oneelse

The rendering library would read the options (using a default value if
an option is not specified, or is invalid) then use them in the
rendering process.
