Great! Looks like you uncovered a design problem, allowing a user to create a circular dependency that knocks a whole branch out just as if you had checked "Hide the branch in To-Do":
Tasks are dependent on their subtasks by default, without the need to create a dependency in the Dependencies section. A parent will not show up until all children have been completed. However, the parent is not "disabled" or it's entire branch hidden in the To Do list -else it's children would never show up. (qualified "never": normal usage) When you create an explicit dependency in the Dependencies section, however, it not only hides that dependee, but effectively hides it's entire branch. This makes sense. No problem there. The problem is that when you create an explicit dependency of parent on child, it's like saying "hide all children of this parent until one of the children is complete" -which doesn't make sense, because if all children are hidden, they can never be completed. Circular! I believe this circular dependency is something Andrey will want to fix. I think it would be as simply as disallowing a parent to be set as dependent on a child in the Dependencies section. -Tim Howland On Aug 3, 10:06 am, RSKadish <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi all, > > Thanks very much for the responses! > > I checked out all the conditions on Tim's list and none of them > applied, so I played with the filters as Pottster suggested.
