I don't know I don't consider myself a power user at all with MLO. I never
took the time to learn how to make "root" folders and things like that but I
feel like I already do something similiar. I end up with about 50 new tasks
each and every traditional american work day M-F. my are very similar in
some I need to do today..absolutely can't go home until I do, so I need to
do this week, some are this month and some are someday. I just control the
whole mess using contexts.

so i would approach this with the following contexts

@today
@tonight
@this week
@boss
@colleague

then i have my "to do" tab set to organize by context.

now all i have to do is a rapid task entry with a parse of the correct
context or a simple assign of the context in the outline or even simpler
leave the to do list up and simply click anywhere under the correct context
and hit the insert key and i'm done

then i'm off doing tasks secure knowing if there is a task under @today i
have to do it today etc
you don't sound like you need to mess with date or recurrence or anything
like that you just need a simple list manager and i can think of no easier
way than contexts for that

it's just a horizon view not so much a getting things done view. I simply
need to know what i need to do today, this week, and this month. I don't
have to spend hours figuring out the next step. whats on the horizon is all
I need in the case you described.
