Here’s a sequence that I tried: 1. File>New to create a new database
2. Save as Test.ml 3. Add some tasks 4. Open the All Tasks view 5. create a new tab, called Test 6. open Next Actions by Project in the test tab 7. click on column header and add Importance and Urgency 8. drag Importance and Urgency to the right as columns 2 and 3 (after caption) 9. save view as Nextx 10. click on My Workspace (first) tab. 11. Move some columns around in My workspace 12. Back to Test tab. Importance and Urgency are still in positions 2 and 3 13. load All Tasks to test tab 14. load Nextx to text tab – Importance and Urgency are still in positions 2 and 3 If I am understanding your issue correctly, I believe that the above test shows that I’m not experiencing it. Could you document a series of steps like the above, starting with a new/empty database, that demonstrate the issue? If so I will do my best to replicate the problem and we can see what happens. Hi Sorry I hate to differ Dwight but I just tried exactly what you suggest and it simply isn't working as you describe. Yes, it seems that "Set as default for this tab" has the effect of setting which view on that tab will appear when you double click on it, plus an asterisk appears if you select a different view. And yes, it seems that "Lock default in this tab" has the effect of stopping me from deleting the tab. Plus if I attempt to change view whilst in that tab, then a new tab is opened. BUT none of the above seems to have the slightest effect on either the sequence of the rows across the page relative to each other nor their horizontal positions. I even tried getting all the tabs as I want them and closing the whole program. But even then after you open the program again, the simple act of clicking on different will after a whole break the columns. What is strange is that immediately it breaks for one workspace any other workspace that has the same view in it (albeit set as default and locked) will have the column change in exactly the same way. So it does FEEL like the columns are part of the views themselves, rather than being anything to do with the tabs.... Nope as things stand nothing will keep the columns anything like how I want them and until someone can tell me how to stop the column from leaping back to what they were, seemingly with minds of their own, I say: b-u-g ! P.S. There are a couple unexpected things too: a) If a tab has been locked you can still change the columns - on a temporary basis at least. b) "Sync Zoom with first tab" keeps unticking itself on all the tabs. The xolumn selection is not accessible though the left panel and is therefore not saved when you save a view. I am oversimplifying but this is about 95% true. The thing that saves a view together with other information such as zoom and selected columns is a workspace, also known as a tab. Try this: -Hit the [+] tab marker at the right of your tab list. A new tab appears. -Type in some nice name for the workspace. -you can click or clear the two "sync" checkboxes, does not matter to me - hit <enter> to save the workspace name - make sure that you have the view you want - make sure the column selection and zoom is what you want - right click the tab and select "set as default" - right click the tab and select "lock to default" - maybe you want to assign some nice icon and pin the tab. or not. now whenever you click this tab you will get the tasklist you just defined. btw this is probably a good time to tell you about persistent unsaved view changes. when you edit a view the changes are not saved back to the view definition but they remain in effect in the current workspace. If you open the same view in a different workspace the changes will be absent but if you go back to the workspace where you made the changes they are still there. You can close MLO, reboot your computer and reopen MLO, the workspace will still be there and your unsaved changes will still be present. You can edit system views but you cannot save them. When you save a view the changes now appear in all workspaces using the view. Ironically as soon as I wrote the word bug - if confirmed by act of God - I get a message to my screen that MLO has actually crashed!) Any suggestions or best practices as to how to avoid the columns going wrong? e.g. Should I delete all copies of my Views and rebuild them from scratch? e.g. Should I export all my data and import into a new blank MLO file?
