Hi Miriam.

BOTTOM LINE: Like you, I hate overdue tasks. For day-recurring tasks I set long
lead times. For hour-recurring tasks, I beg to have a “working hours” field in
MLO settings which it considers in setting the end date/time.

First, I am exactly the same as you: I hate to see overdue tasks when, for
example, I wake up, or as you said, travel.

For awhile I’ve proposed being able to put in a calendar of working hours/days,
similar to MS Project. So that, If I have an 8 hour tasks starting at 7 p.m.,
it’s end date would be Next morning around 9 a.m., rather than 3 in the morning.

And almost exactly like you, I have an apartment near Boston. So when I get
there it shows me all these tasks that are overdue! There, what I do is to
create week long lead times for daily recurring tasks. Like “tidy the office
every day”, instead of having a lead time of 1 day, I put a 7-day lead time.

Take Care,

I struggle with this too. My workaround is to set the start date for when I’d
like to do the task and the due date as the latest date eg recurring weekend
tasks start on a Friday and are due on Sunday. When completed they start the
next Friday etc

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, so I'll try to clarify with an
(verbose) example. And then I may have a better response.

Suppose a task is set to recur every 2nd Wednesday,

1) the task is due on the 1st

2a) On the 1st, the task is completed as planned.
2b) The task is updated to be due on the 15th.

3a) On the Wednesday the 15th, the task is *not* completed as planned
3b) On the Friday the 17th, the task _could_ be completed.

Then, do any of the following options, describe your situation?

a) Wait until next schedule, on the 29th.

b) Wait until the next Wednesday, on the 22nd.

c1) Complete as soon as possible, on Friday the 17th,
-- -- and repeat every 28 days going forward

c2) Complete as soon as possible, on Friday the 17th,
-- -- and repeat every 2nd Wednesday, from the 22th.

c3) Complete as soon as possible, on Friday the 17th,
-- -- and repeat every 2nd Wednesday, from the 29th.

I am fascinated with how to manage recurring tasks in MLO. Most of my recurring
tasks are fit option 'c1' above.

Hi,

I have a small request, it is more of a psychological thing, in a way:
I have recurring tasks like, for example, "change my bedsheets". I may set this
for wednesday every two weeks, but then, I am travelling the wednesday in
question and for one reason or another, I don't want to change the sheets
before, but only when I come back on friday. Now I have two options:

1) I leave the task. Then I have an overdue task sitting in my list, and I
don't like this. It feels "guilt" and the risk ist to get accustomed to overdue
tasks ...

2) I "complete" the task - even thouth I haven't changed the sheets and create
another one-time task "change sheets", due friday. Not what you would call a
quick fix.

Is there a possibility or could you create one to change the due date of a
recurring task *once* without changing the whole rhythm?
