Hi, TS. I have lost count of how many times I have had a computer reboot for some reason while MLO is running. Each time, MLO will ask me whether MLO hung or whether it was a problem outside of MLO. I've not seen a destroyed file as a result. But your next steps are the same regardless pf hoe the file got smashed. Basicaslly you need to find the most recent copy of your data. I can think of three places to look:

1. MLO's own backups. This is what Michael is telling you about. Look at the directory where your *.ml file is stored and try to open a subdirectory called Backups. Find the most recently created file and try to open it in MLO

2. If you are using the MLO cloud sync and if you have not sent any data to the cloud since your restart, you can recover your data from the cloud. Create a new blank *.ml file. Do not touch the file or its tasks, folders etc until after you have linked to the cloud and synched. You might get a message about an unusually high number of tasks to synch, just accept it. After the synch your new file will be prettty close to the file you lost.

3. Are you backing up your Windows file system on any regular basis? If so, find and restore the most recent backup of your *.ml file. If you cannot open that, find and restore the immediately prior backup/

Hi.

I’m an expert user of MLO, but not an expert at the system files of it. I’ll tell you what I’d do, though.  Before I do, I’ve had issues where my computer suffers an unexpected shutdown while MLO is backing up. It backs up and suddenly POOF…the power goes off. I restart the computer and it tells me the file is corrupt. At that point I (and this is what I’d do were I you):

 1. Open up the backup
 2. Let it sync to MLO cloud
 3. Save it under the previous name, probably with an extra character
(I used dates) so that the original file is still there if I need
    it for some reason

Again, I’m not suggesting this will work for you. Just trying to be helpful on a Friday night 😊

After years of using MLO on my Windows 10 laptop, today I got the message "Could not open this data file. Please check if you access permission to it.

I can open older saved *.ml files, but not my most current.  I have right clicked on the *.ml file and chosen Properties and Security and i don't see any difference between the ML file that works and the newer one that doesn't work.

MLO was open last night when i closed my laptop, and the battery ran down, So i had to restart it this morning. I am wondering if i corrupted the file somehow, and how to fix it.

thanks
