Details:

Current git master has a nice layers dialog which seems to allow renaming
layers by double-clicking in the blank area. However, attempts to type into
this area once it's selected for text entry fail after a few keystrokes. In
the textentry widget:

 - normal, non-keypad numbers are non-functional
 - top row symbols (shift+number) *do* work
 - names type in ALL CAPS work just fine
 - only some lowercase letters work: those strokes not bound to
anything else. Pressing something like, e.g. "v" results in
   the popup colour selector appearing
 - keys like Menu also result in their assigned action firing

This is with a GB keymap, and occurs when using either compiz-fusion or
metacity as window manager under an updated Ubuntu Karmic.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Be running Compiz-Fusion
  2. Launch Mypaint
  3. Open the layers dialog
  4. Double-click in the Name area for the default layer
  5. Try to type something, observe behaviour above
     - you might need to poke several lowercase keys before it
triggers the problem. "v" is a good one to bounce on
       though.

Occasionally, in both Metacity and Compiz, keyboard shortcuts can fire even
when *no* Mypaint window has focus. Even stealing text entry from apps like
the Firefox I'm using to type this in on :/

I'm not sure what combination of input is needed to make Mypaint steal focus
from other apps. Spooky behaviour I don't see that often.
