Follow-up Comment #6, bug #17005 (project mypaint):
The eraser bug is unrelated and already fixed in git.
The problem is that MyPaint somehow has to decide which devices are pressure
sensitive pens, and set only those into "screen" mode. You have just seen
what happens when we set screen mode for other devices.
When I checked the GTK docu I found no reliable way to figure out which
devices have to be put into extended mode for pressure to work, and which
will screw up.
The GIMP solution is to have the user configure them all manually. I find
that very annoying, I think pressure is supposed to simply work. So MyPaint
sets everything up automatically, but resorts to the device name string to
make a guess to tell the devices appart.
Just change the device name in xorg.conf to end with the word "pad". Did you
invent the name "pad1" yourself or did some tool choose it?
