While using my Geforce 5200 FX's SVideo out the picture on my 30" LCD display is "mediocre". Previously I used my PVR350's fb which of course produced an excellent image while watching live TV but I just can't keep on doing that as I have a lot of DVD's, XViDs etc. which don't play very well using the 350.

The picture now is choppy and rather flat in colors (yes, I have tried adjusting both the TV and the channels in Myth), so I'm wondering if I can buy a better GPU or alter anything in my configuration to achieve a better picture quality. I've heard ATI cards are horribly difficult to get up and running but if they produce a better picture through SVideo it might be worth my time...

The machine (combined frontend and backend) has a Athlon 64 2800+ and it's showing a rather high load while doing anything like XVID or live TV, so this might actually be a problem unless the choppyness (is that even a word?) is in fact caused by the GPU... Might it be worth investing in a faster CPU or should this suffice?

Thanks everyone.

Kindly, Didde
