Well, I was doing svideo from a nvidia GF4 440MX card to my tv, but no
matter what I tried, the picture was still "interlaced" looking and
grainy.

I knew that at my college, the podiums had vga-in for the instructors
laptops, which fed into some sort of device that output to the twin
32" monitors. I googled around and found the VGA-to-Component
converter, which is similar to what the podiums had.

After using the converter, I can hardly tell between live-tv (straight
tv/no myth) and Myth's live-tv, whereas before there was a HUGE
difference.

Yes, but if your motherboard has vga onboard, you don't need another
video card at all. Worth the money, IMHO.
