Don't know about in .17 but in previous versions, artsd caused problems. Try disabling it if it's running. What settings are in your setup screens for sound and mixer? oss? alsa? What have you tried already? What did you search for? Have you searched the mailing list archives? Have you tried asking for help on the #mythtv-users IRC channel? -Ross
